Starting with my shower routine for washing my hair

I wash my hair 1-2 times a week… I find this healthier for my hair and I have trained my hair to last all week with dry shampoo occasionally. I ALWAYS double cleanse my scalp, sometimes that means using my shampoo twice and other times I would be using a scalp refresher/ detox shampoo first then going in with my normal shampoo.

My favorite shampoo at the moment is Redken Frizz Dismiss, I also use the paired conditioner as well. BUT I love Redken shampoos and I believe all of them are amazing so if you’re looking to change up shampoos go find a Redken one that pairs to your needs! When it comes to cleansing my scalp I love 2 different products. Number 1 is Briogeo Scalp Revival Micro Exfoliating shampoo. I love this stuff as it leaves my scalp feeling rejuvenated and clean. Keep in mind this is NOT a daily/ biweekly shampoo. I personally use this every other wash or every 2 washes.

The other product I like to use for the same reasons is the Ouai Detox Shampoo. I actually tried the travel size of this and will be repurchasing in full size! One is that Ouai products are some of the best smelling products on the market. Two is that it leaves my scalp feeling refreshed as well!

Moving onto post shower, after I let my hair down from the towel I go in with Amika The Wizard for detangling. Be careful to not overspray this product or spray it too close to your head because it can cause oil build up! If I’m blow drying my hair I go in with the K18 Astro Lift Volume Spray, the Wizard works as a heat protectant. After blow drying I like to finish off with an oil so I LIGHTLY go in with Kérastase Elixir oil. For the lazy day I don’t want to blow dry I go in with Oribe Hair Alchemy Heatless Styling Balm. This product is the IT girl for frizzy/ thick hair girlies! I love the product as it makes my hair 10x less frizzy than no product.

Now we can talk about styling, whether that’s a slick back or curls these are my favorite products for those moments. For curling you all know I ALWAYS start by spraying the section with a texture spray. My favorite one is the Kenra Dry Texture Spray with an honorable mention of Amika Undone Texture spray and the Hairitage Magic Spell texturizing spray. After I curl I finish each section with a light hold hairspray and my favorite is Kenra Working Spray Flexible Hold Hairspray. I love Kenra because every single products smells amazing and every time I use these sprays on a client they mention the amazing smell.

Let’s talk slick backs… I love a good slick back and here are my favorite products to achieve that. The Dae Cactus Fruit Styling Cream is amazing to run through the scalp and top of the head to start the slick back. Then once I have pulled everything into and elastic to smooth and finish everything off I use the Dae Cactus Fruit Cream Styling Wand and finish with a high hold hairspray.

That is all the products I could not live without for my hair! Obviously as a Cosmetologist I take care of my hair but its not just for us, YOU too should care about the health of your hair and switching to some new products could be the start of your haircare journey.
